# Extrasolarian Starships # Demiurge Legendary Sojourner starship owned by the Undying [Kharn Sagara](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/legends/page/kharn-sagara). > What hand had fashioned it—and in what age—I cannot say. It looked as if it was wrought of iron, or else chiseled from black stone. No sign of plastic or of ceramic, nor scrap of adamant. Terrace upon terrace, spire upon spire it rose out of the unending night and sank into it, as though some city of castles rose from the flat of a mighty blade hundreds of miles long. > > *Howling Dark*, Chapter 49: Two Treasons > Behind us, the ship bristled with uncounted black spires, towers and turrets and buttressed halls rising behind the rank and file of grim statuary. Black hands stretched from the hull behind us, and stood watch above the great boom arm that held our ship in place. The unseeing eyes pressing down with such gravity I thought they must have masked suppression field generators behind those sightless lenses, such a force was in the terror of their gaze. Behind all that black metal and stone, the unfixed stars stretched, each one transmuted to a whorl of light and colored more blue than anything I had seen. To violet. > > *Howling Dark*, Chapter 51: Lost Time

# Enigma of Hours
**Spoilers ahead, proceed with caution**
A massive Exalted Sojourner starship on which the [Meidua Red Company](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/meidua-red-company) sought passage to the Extrasolarian world [Vorgossos](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/worlds-unknown/page/vorgossos). Captained by [CAPTAIN EIDHIN](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/extrasolarian-worlds/page/captain-eidhin). All passenger ships and cargo must relinquish control of navigation while Eidhin's helmsmen ferry the ship to the *Enigma's* hold. One such helmsman mentioned in Lord Marlowe's account is [NAZZARENO](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/extrasolarian-worlds/page/nazzareno). > The Enigma of Hours was cigar-shaped, perhaps a hundred miles from end to end, perhaps longer, and perhaps a tenth that across. I never saw much of it, but deduced from those parts I did see that her front end was open to vacuum. The crew section and drive cores were in the aft, separated from the docks and the city by a vast bulkhead that sealed the back end as surely as the front was open. > > ... > > “Several . . .” Her voice trailed off, calculations turning over in her mind. “That’s not possible. You’re talking about speeds several thousand times light.” > > “’Tis possible,” Valka said coolly. “I did time on a Demarchy courier when I was younger that averaged three thousand c.” > > *Howling Dark*, Chapter 24: The Enigma of Hours > The visitor’s port was a single road, proceeding left and right in a great loop so that it made a circuit around the Enigma’s entire circumference, with ships docked in berths to either side. The concourse lay open to the air, which hugged the rotating inner surface of the Sojourner or else was contained by the static fields that guarded the ship’s open mouth. I realized on stepping out from the shadow of the umbilical hall that my original understanding of the ship had been wrong. This was not March Station. Not a city at all. There were very few other people on the concourse, and most of them seemed to know exactly where they were going and why. They moved ship to ship with the determination of executives on the cusp of some business arrangement. Perhaps that’s what they were. > > *Howling Dark*, Chapter 26: The Oracle

# The Parliament of Owls Extrasolarian starship first mentioned in *Tales of the Sun Eater, Volume 1*. One of its crew members, the Extrasolarian [GIACOMO](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/norman-freeholds-Skl/page/giacomo), visited the planet Kanthi to purchase Consortium contraband. > “I still don’t see…” [Gant](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/norman-freeholds-Skl/page/gant)’s voice trailed off, and [Kalas](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/norman-freeholds-Skl/page/kalas-of-maglona) imagined him squinting over the railing, peering down over the stinking fisheries and Narayan building and the lower structures around. “No, there it is!” He sounded like he was pointing. “Right on top of the building, hanging off the south side. I don’t recognize the make, though.” > > Kalas peered up at top of the building, but there was nothing to see. Some sort of active camouflage? That did not bode well. Abhanri didn’t restrict flight, didn’t have a customs office. Who would cloak themselves in such a place? Who would need to? > > *Tales of the Sun Eater, Volume 1* - The Parliament of Owls > The impossibly deep voice again: “Hardly, madam. Your reputation precedes you, and what you’ve gotten for us will go a long way to ensuring that the *Parliament of Owls* will go on sailing for another four thousand years.” > > *Tales of the Sun Eater, Volume 1* - The Parliament of Owls
