Centurion Cade and his men valiantly sacrificed their lives aboard the Cielcin worldship to help the Imperial Red Company defeat VAYADAN IUBALU and escape the ship. In a last ditch effort, Cade and his men destroyed the ship's coolant tank, which cracked the Dewar flask and vented fuel automatically—preventing the Cielcin attackers from jumping to warp.

“One thing, lord.” Cade’s composure cracked just a little.

“Say on.”

“I’d like to wait until the enemy breaches the door, give my lads a chance to run for it.”

I was nodding, and it took a full three seconds for me to remember the man could not see me. “As you wish.”

“Give them hell, then.” And he cut the line.
