ISD 16632 - Battle of Marinus

The Battle of Marinus marked a catastrophic defeat for the Sollan Empire in the Norman Expanse during the Cielcin Wars. The fall of Marinus (a key Legion logistics hub and trade nexus) led to the collapse of Imperial presence beyond the Veil, isolating the Freeholder colonies and paralyzing regional resupply and troop movement. This loss crippled Imperial logistics.

The battle itself is believed to have been led or coordinated by SYRIANI DORAYAICA or one of his Iedyr Yemani (White Hand) generals, and resulted in the destruction of orbital troop stations, killing hundreds of thousands of soldiers in fugue. The attacking Cielcin flee did not linger to pillage the planet, instead immediately pursuing the surviving Imperial Fleet, suggesting Marinus was a tactical "smash and grab". The surviving command structure later convened at Berenike, a trading/mining colony on the Centaurine border, where plans to retake Marinus were discussed, though not expected to launch until ISD 16710, nearly eight decades later.

The fall of Marinus follows other major Cielcin advances like Cressgard and Hermonassa, and is viewed as a pivotal turning point that doomed the Empire’s control in the sector, exposing both the scale and coordination of the Cielcin threat.
