Flagship of the 409th Centaurine Legion commanded by Tribune BASSANDER LIN. Filled with a 12,000-man compliment and 18,000 soldiers in fugue. Led the Imperial assault against the Cielcin at the Battle of Ganelon and the Battle of Perfugium.

The great battleship was perhaps only half the size of the Tamerlane, but where the Tamerlane had been built to store tens of thousands, the Tempest was all hardware: wing upon wing of lightercraft waited in banks above launch tubes that fluted the lower hull. Fully one fifth of the Tempest’s nearly twelve-thousand-man compliment were aquilarii, the pilots of small lightercraft. The Tempest was designed to siege planets, to launch thousands of bombers and to bombard shielded targets from orbit.
