A temperate world with wan sunlight, famed for its uranium deposits, which made it extremely wealthy.
— Tor Paulos[1]
Delos is a planet located in the Auriga province of the Spur of Orion. Due to its strategic placement on the Imperial trade routes with the Sagittarine provinces, the world has always been prosperous and a cultural and commercial hub. It is one of the older examples of successful Imperial terraforming, the results of which led to a planet much like Old Earth. Formally settled in the fourth millennium ISD, Delos was first ruled by House Ormund, but, following the Chablon Rebellion, they were replaced by House Kephalos.[2] Delos is known for its vast uranium deposits, and for being the birthplace of the infamous Hadrian Marlowe.[1]

Notable Locations
Locations of Interest:
Known Prefectures:
Meidua: Governed by Archon LORD ALEISTER MARLOWE.
Artemia: Governed by Vicereine LADY ELMIRA KEPHALOS.
Camlen's Gap: Town in Meidua Prefecture about two-days' ride on horse from Saint Maximus village
Devil's Rest: Ancient black-stone citadel atop a white limestone bluff in Meidua Prefecture on; seat of House Marlowe and residence of Archon Aleister Marlowe. Constructed in the Empire's golden age, it features Gothic spires, a massive Great Keep, private Chantry sanctum, and monumental defenses. Dominates the city below and overlooks the Apollan Ocean. Known for its harsh grandeur, elite guards, and iconic banners bearing the red devil sigil above the motto: The sword, our orator.
Dome of Bright Carvings: A circular, stained-glass-lit rotunda within Devil’s Rest on Delos, serves as House Marlowe’s formal council chamber. Filled with vivid, hand-carved wooden sculptures commissioned from across Meidua Prefecture each decade. The best statues, depicting beasts, ships, demons, and more, are preserved, while the rest are ritually burned at Summerfair.
Euclid: a southern city in the Meidua Prefecture of Delos, notable as a major spaceport hub and center for Free Trader activity within the Sollan Empire. Often regarded as disreputable and teeming with shadow commerce.
Karch: an island city adrift in the Apollan Ocean, east of Devil’s Rest and far from civilization’s reach. Known for its low sprawl of aged buildings, crowded pontoons, and a chaotic mix of sail, steam, and starships; a hidden haven for smugglers, rogue traders, and covert operations beneath the Empire’s notice.
Haspida: Location of the House Kephalos Summer Palace; Hill country; Haspida itself was small by the measure of the palaces of the palatine nobility, covering a mere seven hectares including its inner gardens and the central domes of the greenhouse conservatories. That was less than a third of the area of Devil’s Rest and not even a tenth of the ducal palace at Artemia. Rustic, if a twenty-four-hundred-room palace could be such a thing.
Iramnene Desert: A sparsely settled, arid region located in Meidua Prefecture, predominantly inhabited by the nomadic Iramnene ethnic group — descendants of the earliest Delos colonists. Traditionally home to herders and raiders, the Iramnene Desert later became a significant site for uranium mining, fueling both the rise of House Marlowe and ongoing conflict in the region.
Meidua: Once a fishing village of no consequence, now the capital of Meidua Prefecture, the demesne awared to House Marlowe for service to Duke Tiberius Ormund in the mid-Eighth Millenium; known for its ample uranium deposits
Meidua Colosso: large stadium used by the city for formal ceremonies and entertainment, primarily known as the location of the city's battles between the Meidua Devils (gladiators) and criminals, slaves, and conscripts, known as myrmidons.
Ramnaras: Coastal region on Delos beyond Meidua Prefecture.
Saint Maximus: Adorator (Museum Catholic) village in the heart of the Redtine Valley

History
Preceding the Books
Delos is one of the older examples of successful terraforming in Imperial history. Formally settled in the fourth millennium ISD, the project took several centuries to complete. It originally had no biosphere, oxygen cycle, or oceans, but the gravity and magnetospheres were just right. Comets were brought in to introduce water, and many of the animals introduced were of terranic stock, leading to a world as much like [Old Earth](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/spur-of-orion/page/earth) as could be readily produced. Due to its clement environment and strategic placement on the Imperial trade routes with the Sagittarine provinces, the world has always been prosperous. It flourished first under House [Ormund](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/sollan-empire-vBP/chapter/house-ormund-of-delos), then again under House [Kephalos](https://www.suneater.wiki/books/sollan-empire-vBP/chapter/house-kephalos-of-delos) when the Ormund Dukes fell into disfavor during the Chablon Rebellion in the thirteenth millennium and were removed from power. This prosperity was compounded by the discovery of the system’s amazing uranium deposits, which have long been the subject of internecine struggles between the palatine houses of the system.
A cultural and commercial hub, Delos has attracted interstellar trade among Nipponese and Mandari corporations as well as the Eudorans, Durantines, and Free Traders.
