Annica An airless world orbiting a red dwarf somewhere on the far side of the galactic core, apparently connected to the Quiet.
Anshar the southern continent on Emesh in the Norma Arm, location of Tolbaran Prefecture, where the Norman United Fellowship had built its capital when the planet was colonized in the early sixteenth millenium; a small volcanic outcrop a mere fifteen hundred miles across
Apas Location unknown. According to Lord Marlowe’s account, the site of a colony of xenobitic microorganisms called the Deeps.
Aptucca An Imperial colony in the Veil, site of the defeat of the Cielcin Prince Ulurani in single combat by Hadrian Marlowe—one of Lord Marlowe’s greatest victories.
Arae An uninhabited world in the Norman Expanse. Notably the site of the Battle of Arae in the Cielcin Wars where Hadrian Marlowe and his Red Company discovered evidence of an alliance between the Cielcin and Extrasolarian humans. The Red Company defeated the Dardanine mercenaries and the Extrasolarians they served.
Aramis An Imperial agricultural colony in Sagittarius. Its star is dim, so it uses orbital mirrors to intensify the sunlight and make the planet livable.
Arcturus A red giant star near to Old Earth. With no planets, it is nevertheless the home of the Wong-Hopper consortium’s core space habitats and is their base of operation.
Ardistama A Norman freehold visited by Lord Marlowe between Emesh and Vorgossos.
Ares One of the oldest Imperial worlds in the Spur of Orion. Site of the Ares Command School, where the best Legion officers are trained.
Argissa Site of an early battle in the Cielcin Wars, an Imperial colony in the Veil of Marinus.
Armand One of the two moons of Emesh; small and white. It has a few underground settlements and is ruled by House Kvar. Named for Lord Armand Mataro, who took Emesh from the Normans.
Arslan City built by surviving Rustam colonists in the wake of the Cielcin invasion in ISD 16209. Built on the edge of a vast plain, sheltered on one side by the ice-capped face of a nameless mountain. The buildings are comprised of grounded starships.
Artemia Prefecture/city in the Delos system of the Auriga Province of the Spur of Orion; location of the House Kephalos Castle.
Ascia A planet in the Lothriad.
Ashbless A minor colony in the Centaurine provinces most famous as the birthplace of Sir Cassian Powers.
Asherah Arid, tectonically active world known for its mountains and for a species of massive reptilian creatures.
Ashklam A former Norman kingdom in the Veil of Marinus, conquered and annexed by Calen Harendotes, the Monarch of Latarra, during the Cielcin Wars.
Athyras An older Imperial world, home to the predatory xanarths.

Avalon One of the original human colonies and site of heavy European colonization by generation ark. Birthplace of the Sollan Empire.
Balanrot An Imperial colony in the outer Centaurine provinces, part of Emperor William XXIII’s grand tour.
Baltimore An ancient Mericanii colony.
Bannatia An Imperial Norman colony destroyed by the Cielcin.
Bargovrin An Imperial colony in the Centaurine provinces, site of a brutal defeat of humanity by the Cielcin in the Crusades.
Bashang Temple Famous temple on Cai Shen in the Centaurus Arm until ISD 16130, when it was destroyed by the Cielcin.
Bellos Imperial colony in the Norman Expanse; site of the Battle of Bellos.
Belusha The most infamous of the Imperial prison planets; the last destination of many political prisoners. A dismal, cold world. Salvage/scrapping wrecked ships often done in orbit about Belusha by the Martians themselves. They stripped incoming vessels of weapons and more sensitive materials—electronics, fuel containment, and the like—before passing the hulks down to the surface. These were tendered down from a great height, carried by repulsor buoys the size of castles. Time and again, ships were dropped on the plains to smash and shatter. Then the vultures were sent out, crawling and combing over every deck, every inch of hull, every engine port for precious metals, circuit boards, and anything the space crews might have missed.
Berenike A former trading hub and mining colony on the Centaurine frontier on the border with the Veil of Marinus, site of a major battle in the Cielcin Wars.
Binah One of the two moons of Emesh, ruled by House Melluan. A successful case for early terraforming—its surface is green from massive tree-growth.
Borosevo A city/prefecture/castle governed by Lord Balian Mataro, third Count of Emesh. Military base constructed by Balian’s ancestor Armand Mataro during the city’s beginnings.
Britannia Region on the planet Earth in the Spur of Orion from which the Imperial House Avent finds its roots.
Cai Shen An ethnically Mandari world in the Imperium famed for its Bashang Temple. It was ruled by House Min Chen until ISD 16130, when it was destroyed by the Cielcin.
Calagah archaeological site in Southern Emesh; home to subterranean ruins believed to be associated with the Quiet; inspection of the site is subject to the planet's extreme tides; constructed of an unidentifiable black, smooth stone.
Camlen's Gap Small town in Meidua Prefecture on the planet Delos in the Spur of Orion; Two-day's ride on hrse from Saint Maximus village.
Carcassone Originally settled by Museum Catholic missions, now an Imperial core world. Carcassone is temperate and a paradise world for terranic life. Famed for its wines.
Caritas The home of the New Vatican and central world of the Museum Catholic Church, windy and twilit.
Car-Tannae An Imperial colony on the outer rim of the galaxy in the Perseus Arm. Its gladiators are famous for fighting with nets and spears.
Carteia An icy world in the Centaurine provinces, devastated by the Cielcin in the war. One of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.
Casla An Imperial colony in the Norman Expanse, formerly a freehold annexed by the Sollan Empire.
Catraeth City on the planet Gododdin constructed with white stone quarried from the mountains that shelter the city; overlooks the seemingly infinite expanse of grasssland the locals call the Green Sea.
Cellas Site of a major battle during the Cielcin Wars.
Centaurus Arm The innermost and farthest of the four arms of the galaxy colonized by the Sollan Empire, north of Sagittarius, Orion, and Perseus. Most Centaurine provinces are clustered near the heart of the galaxy, just south of the Veil of Marinus and the galactic core.
Cidamus An Imperial demesne in the Centaurine Provinces, ruled by the counts of House Volsenna, sacked by the Cielcin in the Battle of Cidamus in ISD 17064.
Colchis The first Imperial colony in the Centaurus Arm, named for the garden at the end of the world, a moon of the gas giant Atlas. Never an important colony (it was eclipsed quickly by its neighbors), it is nevertheless known for the massive scholiast athenaeum at Nov Belgaer.
Comum A Centaurine demesne, site of the Battle of Comum, one of Lord Marlowe’s many battles.
Coritani A major Imperial base in the Norman Expanse.
Cressgard A lost Imperial colony in the Veil of Marinus. Site of the first contact with the Cielcin in the Battle of Cressgard in ISD 15792.
Danu A major Duchy in the Centaurus Arm, most notable in Lord Marlowe’s account as the birthplace of his friend William, called Switch.
Delos Birthplace of Hadrian Marlowe and seat of the duchy of House Kephalos in the Spur of Orion. A temperate world with wan sunlight, famed for its uranium deposits, which made it extremely wealthy. One and one-tenth standard gravity.
Demarchy of Tavros A small interstellar polity far from Imperial control. Radically open to technology, the people vote on all measures using neural lace implants.
Denver An ancient Mericanii colony.

Dharan-Tun A Cielcin worldship larger than some moons, the seat of Prince Syriani Dorayaica.
Dion Station An Imperial refueling outpost on the route from Gododdin across the gap between the Sagittarius and Centaurus Arms of the Galaxy.

Downwell prison camp on the planet Belusha; home of the planet’s motor pools, used for the repair of crawlers and skiffs
Durannos The capital of the Serene Republic of the Durannos. Tectonically dead and marshy, much of its surface is covered in a massive city.
Earth Birthplace of the human species. A nuclear ruin and victim of environmental collapse, she is protected by the Chantry wardens, and none may walk there.
Echidna The first Cielcin worldship captured and impounded by the Sollan Empire for study. A dwarf planet converted into a starship by the Cielcin Prince Laramnaina. Capture by Imperial forces under the command of Lord Cassian Powers after the Second Battle of Cressgard in ISD 15797.
Edda An arid, windy world in the Demarchy known for its canyons, sinkholes, and subterranean oceans. Its people are primarily Nordei and Travatskr.
Eikana an airless, desert world in the central Centaurine provinces, noted for its antimatter fuel manufactory, operated by Yamato Interstellar. The primary fuel supplier for Nessus.
Elos A world renowned for its particle foundries.
Emesh A watery world in the Veil of Marinus; seat of House Mataro. Home of the coloni Umandh and the subterranean ruins at Calagah. Originally a Norman colony.
Epidamnus An Imperial County in the Sagittarius Arm, formerly a center for trade and home to predatory megatheres.
The Eternal CityThe capital of the Sollan Empire located on the planet Forum. Comprised of several thousand floating barges, each held up by repulsors and monstrous balloons.
Euclid Trading city on the planet Delos, south of Haspida.
Eue A planet belonging to the Vaiartu and later to the Cielcin, the site of Cielcin migration from Se Vattayu and the seat of their early empire. Resting place of the Watcher Miudanar.
Europa A failed colony in Old Earth's system; known for its Eudoran dramas and plays
Farside prison camp on the planet Belusha; home of “vulture” crews, the scavenge and salvage crews whose job it was to scour the fields and scrape the wrecks.
Fidchell An icy world in the outer reaches of the Centaurus Arm and site of an Imperial fuel depot.
Fort Din fort built upon a network of bunkers that honeycomb the mountain beneath it on the planet Gododdin. Overlooks the city of Catraeth and the Green Sea grasslands.
Forum The capital of the Sollan Empire. A gas giant with a breathable atmosphere in whose cloud belt are several flying palace cities that serve as the administrative hubs of the Imperium.
Ganelon VA-639D in the Vandenberg Catalog, a semi-habitable planet in the Centaurus Arm of the galaxy, used as a base by the Extrasolarian company MINOS during the war
Gibbeah Planet destroyed by Chantry intervention in the ninth millennium following a series of killings carried out on the local plebeian population by its nobility.
Gododdin A system between the Centaurus and Sagittarius Arms of the galaxy, famously destroyed by Hadrian Marlowe during the final battle in the Crusade.
The Great Arches at Panormo Massive stone arches left behind by the extinct Arch-Builders on the planet Ozymandias.
Helvetios The ancient name for the star 51 Pegasi, whose principal planet is Bellerophon.
Hermonassa An Imperial world in the Sagittarine provinces, the site of a major Red Star Foundries Legion shipyard. Destroyed by Syriani Dorayaica in the Cielcin Wars.
Ibarnis An Imperial colony in the Centaurine provinces. One of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.
Idu An Imperial colony on the borders of the Veil of Marinus.
Idun An Imperial Norman colony destroyed by the Cielcin.
Ilium A Norman Freehold famous for manufacturing starships. Considered one of the best starship manufacturers operating at present.
Jadd The planet of fire and the sacred capital of the Jaddian Principalities, on whose soil none may tread without the express permission of the High Prince.
Judecca A frigid, mountainous world in the Sagittarius Arm. Famously the site of the Temple of Athten Var and birthplace of the Irchtani species. Site of Simeon the Red’s famous struggle against the mutineers.
Kandar An extremely wealthy agricultural world in the inner Empire, frequently considered the definitive source for luxury products, especially wine and genuine livestock. Seat of House Markarian.

Komadd An Imperial colony in the Veil of Marinus and site of a Chantry seminary.
Kremnoi According to Lord Marlowe’s account, an Extrasolarian colony. Location unknown.
Lasaia An Imperial colony in the Orion provinces, the site of a major Red Star Foundries Legion shipyard, like Hermonassa.
Lassira An old Imperial world in the Orion provinces, the seat of one branch of House Curzon.
Latarra A former Norman Freehold in the Veil conqured by the Monarch, Calen Harendotes, an Extrasolarian warlord.
Linon Moon of a gas giant in Delos system. Formerly the demesne of the exsul House Orin and site of the Battle of Linon in ISD 15863, in which Alistair Marlowe killed the entire house.

Luin A planet famous for its xenobitic forests; considered something of a fantasy land. Known for the phasma vigrandi, a species of floating organisms that glow like faerie lights.
Lurash The capital of the Jaddian Principality of Lurash, seat of House du Lurash, one of the great families of Jadd.
Lycia An Imperial Norman colony destroyed by the Cielcin.
Malkuth An Imperial planet bearing the signs of an extinct xenobite civilization.
March Station An Extrasolarian ring station in deep space. Home to millions, it is a major commercial and industrial hub.
The Marching Towers Obelisks of dark black stones placed by the coloni Cavaraad to line a ridge on the planet Sadal Suud in the Spur of Orion; reason for this behavior is unknown
Marinus The first Norman Freehold seized by the Imperium and among its first colonies in the Expanse. The Imperial capital in the Veil of Marinus.
Mars One of Old Earth’s sister planets and the site of the first major offworld colonial efforts during the Exodus but before the Peregrinations. Victor Sebastos, the God Emperor’s own son, made Mars a penal colony following the defeat of the Mericanii Dominion. His descendants formed the hard men that survived the Martian deserts into the first Legions, and those Legions grew into the Martian Guard, the Emperor’s own soldiers.
Mattar City/prefecture on Sadal Suud; Home to the Cavaraad Giants, a huge species of xenobite.
Meidua Once a fishing village of no consequence, now the capital of Meidua Prefecture, the demesne awared to House Marlowe for service to Duke Tiberius Ormund in the mid-Eighth Millenium; known for its ample uranium deposits
Merenhor Capital of the planet Ozymandias
Mettina A Centaurine demesne. Site of the Battle of Mettina, one of Lord Marlowe’s many battles.
Milinda A Grand Duchy in the Primarchate of Perseus. Formerly a mining colony, it grew to prominence during the First Jaddian Wars.
Mira A planet orbiting a star of the same name in the Spur of Orion. Naturally airless, its cities are all either domed or hermetically sealed. The surface contains enormous quantities of methane ice, which is quarried.
Monmara A water world and a Norman Freehold known for the cheap mass production of starships.
Nagapur A trading hub on the old core-roads from the Orion provinces out toward Centaurus and the Veil.
Nagramma A Norman freehold settled primarily by Cid Arthurian religious refugees.
Nairi An Imperial territory in the Outer Perseus, never formally settled, the site of certain Vaiartu ruins investigated by Sir Damien Aradhya of Hapsis and the Atropos expedition. Purportedly the resting place of one of the Monumentals.
Nemavand An Imperial colony in Rammanu Province on the Centaurine frontier.
Nennoed An Imperial military depot world along the Centaurine trade lanes between Gododdin and Nessus.
Neruda An old Imperial world in the Sagittarius Arm. Known for its fungus-like flora, it is home to a prominent scholiasts’ athenaeum.
Nessus Seat of the Centaurine Magnarchate, famously the site of Hadrian Marlowe’s nearly 100-year exile following his arrest and near assassination by the Holy Terran Chantry.
Nichibotsu Most important of the Nipponese worlds and home to the archduke of House Yamato.
Norma Arm / Expanse See Veil of Marinus. The terms are used interchangeably, though the Veil moniker is more common in the Empire, while the Normans refer to it as the Expanse.
Nov Acor Scholiast athenaeum on the planet Syracuse.
Nov Belgaer Famous scholiast athenaeum located on the planet Colchis.
Nov Senber scholiasts’ athenaeum on the desert world Teukros in the Sagittarius Arm.
Obatala An Imperial colony in the Sagittarius Arm that lies along the trade route from Delos to Teukros.
Olympia An ancient Mericanii colony.
Omana An Imperial colony in the Norman Expanse, formerly a freehold annexed by the Sollan Empire.
Omphalos The gas giant in Delos system about which Linon orbits. A hotbed of methane mining operations.
Orion Arm The first arm of the galaxy settled by humankind, site of Old Earth. North of Perseus, but south of Sagittarius and Centaurus. Comprises the core of the Sollan Empire, including Forum and Delos.
Orlando An ancient Mericanii colony.
Ostrannas An Imperial colony in the Centaurine Provinces, one of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.
Oxiana The site of a minor battle in the Cielcin Wars.
Ozymandias Old Imperial colony in the Sagittarius Arm; arid. Known for being home to the extinct Arch-Builders and for the massive stone arches they purportedly left behind.
Padmurak Capital of the Lothrian Commonwealth, a frigid, airless world in the Upper Sagittarius, on the far side of the Rasan Belt.
Pagus Minor One of the Sollan Empire’s prison planets.
Perfugium An Imperial world in the Centaurus Arm used as a military base and refugee camp during the later parts of the Crusade.
Perigee prison camp on the planet Belusha; another camp filled with vulture crews for scavenging and reclamation
Perseus Arm The outermost of the four settled arms of the galaxy, comprising most of the outer-rim territories. Variously settled by the Sollan Empire, the Principalities of Jadd, the Durantine Republic, and various freeholder colonies and smaller states not annexed or allied with a greater power.
Phaia A world renowned for its highmatter sword craftsmen.
Pharos A Norman freehold ruled for a time by Marius Whent, an ex-Imperial legate defeated by Hadrian Marlowe during his time as a mercenary.

Rammanu An Imperial colony on the Centaurine frontier, right on the border with the Veil of Marinus.
Rasan Belt A broad swath of unsettled space, one hundred light-years across, that stretches across the Upper Sagittarius between the Sollan Empire and the Lothrian Commonwealth.
Renaissance One of the most populous worlds in the Empire and located in the Spur of Orion. A cultural center almost entirely covered by urban development. Formerly a Mericanii colony called Yellowstone, located in the Epsilon Eridani system.
Rubicon An Imperial planet bearing the signs of an extinct xenobite civilization.
Rustam An Imperial colony in the Norman Expanse; site of a minor enagement with the Cielcin that culminated in the destruction of its capital city.
Sadal Suud A wild world in the Spur of Orion that is mostly untrammeled. Home to the Cavaraad Giants, a huge species of xenobite, as well as the Marching Towers, one of the Ninety-Nine Wonders of the Universe. Ruled by House Rodolfo.
Sagittarius Arm The second arm of the galaxy colonized by humanity, north of Orion but south of Centaurus. Comprises the core of the Sollan Empire—along with Orion—but the Lothrian Commonwealth constitutes a large portion of its western frontier.
Saint Maximus Adorator (Museum Catholic) village in the heart of the Redtine Valley on the planet Delos in the Spur of Orion.
Salamass An Imperial colony in the Centaurine Provinces, one of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.

Se Vattayu The mythical homeworld of the Cielcin, Its surface is apparently honeycombed with labyrinthine tunnels like those the Quiet dug at Calagah on Emesh.
Second Gulf The vast emptiness between the arms of Sagittarius and Centaurus.
Senuessa A Sagittarine world, site of the Battle of Senuessa, one of the bloodiest in the entirety of the Cielcin Wars.
Sete An Imperial colony on the inner reaches of the Norman Expanse.
Shakespeare A planet and archduchy in the Orion provinces held by the Aventine House.
Siena An Imperial colony in the Sagittarius Arm that lies along the trade route from Delos to Teukros.
Sinara Site of a battle during the Cielcin Wars.
Siraganon An Imperial colony in the outer Centaurine provinces, one of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.
Small Kingdoms Any of the countless independent human polities in the Lower and Outer Perseus not aligned with or subject to Imperial rule, considered too remote to easily annex by Imperial forces and treated as little better than Extrasolarians.
Snowhead prison camp on the planet Belusha; location of the planet’s foundries, the great smelters where the bones of ruined ships are melted down for ingots.
Sulis A Norman Freehold that is effectively a client state of the Sollan Empire. Site of a repelled Cielcin invasion.
Suren Capital city of the planet Rustam in the Norma Arm; following the Cielcin invasion, the fallen city now stands as a scar on the surface of the planet.
Sybaris An Imperial colony in the Centaurine frontier, site of a major battle in the Cielcin Wars. It was at Sybaris that Hadrian Marlowe was arrested by the Chantry’s Inquisition and taken to Thermon to stand trial.
Syracuse A temperate world in the Imperium, notably the site of the scholiasts’ athenaeum at Nov Acor.
Tanais According to Lord Marlowe’s account, an Extrasolarian colony. Location unkown.
Taranis An Imperial demesne in the Centaurine provinces, site of a battle between the Imperial Legions and Syriani Dorayaica, one of the Cielcin prince’s rare defeats at the hands of Sir Hector Oliva.
Tavros The primary planet of the Tavros Demarchy, settled by a mix of Nordic, Indian, and ethnic Thai peoples ahead of the wave of Imperial expansion in a region high above the galaxy’s ecliptic.
Temeria A planet in the Durantine Republic in the Outer Perseus.
Teukros A desert world in the Imperium, notably the site of the scholiasts’ athenaeum at Nov Senber.
Thagura An Imperial colony in the Veil of Marinus; formerly the demsne of House Malyan. Site of a major battle in the Cielcin Wars.
Thermon A Chantry stronghold in the Sagittarine Provinces, famously the site of Hadrian Marlowe’s twelve-year-long trial for witchcraft.
Thessaloniki Seat of one of the Eighty Principalities of Jadd.
Thielbad An Imperial colony in the Centaurine Provinces, one of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.
Tiryns Seat of the Persean Magnarchate.
Trieste An old Imperial world in the Orion Arm, notable in this account only as the birthplace of Lord Marlowe’s long-time companion and friend Pallino.
Tolbaran located in the Norma Arm on Emesh's southern continent Anshar, the city was founded as the capital of the Norman United Fellowship during the planet's colonization; governed by Archon Lord Perun Veisi
Triton A water world in the Imperium; seat of House Coward.
Typhon The second Cielcin worldship captured and impounded by the Sollan Empire, dismantled for study.
Tyras Once a Norman Freehold in the nearer regions of the Expanse. Tyras was annexed by the Sollan Empire in ISD 15842 and put into the hands of House Jurnau. It remained an Imperial territory a mere 374 years before the planet was destroyed by the Cielcin in ISD 16216, culminating in the complete extinction of House Jurnau.
Ubar An arid Jaddian satrapy loyal to House di Otranto, who have been the high princes of Jadd for generations. Loyal to the Prince of Thessaloniki.
Uhra A Norman Freehold that recently transitioned from a kingdom to a republic. Renowned for its starship manufacture.
Ulakiel site of Emesh's Umandh alienage, the largest signle refuge for the native intelligent species
Utah An ancient Mericanii colony.
Vanaheim An Imperial colony in the Centaurine Provinces, one of the sites on Emperor William XXIII’s tour of the frontier.
Varadeto A Barony in the Primarchate of Orion, presided over by House Harfleur.
Veil of Marinus The region of space at the base of the Norma Arm of the galaxy where it joins the galactic core. Formerly a colonial expansion region dominated by the Sollan Empire and Norman Freeholders. It is also the site of most Cielcin incursions into human space.
Vesperad A moon orbiting the gas giant Ius. The oldest Chantry-controlled planet, boasting its largest seminary complex.
Vorgossos A mythical Extrasolarian world orbiting a brown dwarf, said to be the domain of demons and of pirates—a Mecca for the black-market genetics trade. Formerly a a hideout for the Exalted. It is now presided over by a warlord known as the Undying.
